1 The Rougiers of Camarès

The blushers of Camarès is an extraordinary site to discover during a walk in Aveyron. The red sandstone earth offers a surprising contrast of colors with the blue of the sky and the green nature. These atypical reliefs could almost bring to mind American Colorado. Pay attention, you are not the only one enjoying the show. You will be able to come across Lacaune dairy sheep, well known for the production of Roquefort which is made with their milk.

2 River on Tarn and its castle

The rocky prow of the Château de Peyrelade is a true impregnable fortress! It’s incongruous and unusual, who had the idea of building there? How ? Since the

11th

century in the Tarn Valley, it has been a place of observation... You can visit it from June to September and admire it the rest of the year, it is truly a unique place.

3 Bozouls and his hole

The Bozouls canyon, also called “Bozouls hole”, is incredible in its surface area with 400m in length and 100m in depth. Crossed by the Dourdou de Conques river, it allows you to enjoy a steep walk with your feet in the water, in a setting of the Andes Mountains. Open your eyes wide and share this flourishing vegetation with goats, sheep, horses and even llamas. The municipality has opted for eco-pastoralism, where animals naturally maintain the valley.

4 The Igues of Rouffiès and Py

The Igues de Py, near Compolibat and Ruffié, are gigantic stone chimneys. It's a nice place for a walk, there is a marked path to follow, which passes bridges and other developments. Treat yourself to a relaxing break at the foot of these immense natural columns.

5 The livestock market, in Laissac

The livestock market, in Laissac, 30 minutes from Rodez, is a visit worth the detour. This is the first livestock market in France organized every Tuesday morning, intended for professional sellers and buyers. You can still take a guided tour by reservation, before strolling through the producers' market in Laissac, to the rhythm of the music and the bustle of the village's shops.

6 The Viaur viaduct

The Viaur viaduct is a unique structure created by engineer Paul Bodin. It forms the link between Aveyron and Tarn, with its 3,800 tonnes of steel on the sides of the valley. In the heart of Ségala, you can admire this majestic building of the Gô area, the Paul Bodin area or the Yunnan area.

7 The City of Stones of Montpellier-le-Vieux

Come see great chaos! A chaos is a pile of rocks, resulting from the natural phenomenon of erosion or meteorological events, which give rise to astonishing landscapes, rather surreal and strange... In Montpellier-le-Vieux, it is 120 ha of nature leisure park set in the largest rock labyrinth in Europe, which will offer you pleasant walks. Louis de Funès aficionados will recognize some of the landscapes of La Grande Vadrouille... There is also a small tourist train, a via ferrata and other activities on site.

8 Tours of “Roc del Thaluc” in Peyrusse-le-Roc

Another site where we wonder why they built there in this place and how? The two towers of Roc del Thaluc in Peyrusse-le-Roc are perched at the top of a rocky promontory. It is a romantic and beautiful place at sunset.

10 La Couvertoirade

Here are two Templar and Hospitaller villages in Larzac that will take you back in time to the Middle Ages.

La Couvertoirade, designated one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, boasts the only Templar castle built in the 17th century and typical Hospitaller architecture with its ramparts and beautiful 16th and 17th century houses.

La Cavalerie, a legendary village, is marked by agropastoralism. Keep your eyes peeled for the fortified walls, 17th-century hotels, 18th-century houses, and even the 18th-century church, which reveal the past of this Hospitaller village.

We hope to have given you some good ideas to consider your stay in Aveyron from a new angle!
