1. The Tarn Gorges

The Tarn Gorges run through the Aveyron department (and beyond!), and you'll find them in the south. It's a picture-perfect place, a paradise for hikers and climbers. You can go canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, or simply take a nature road trip to appreciate the beauty of this site, carved by time and erosion. Don't forget your towel for a dip in its turquoise waters.

2. The Larzac Plateau

When we say you absolutely mustn't miss it, we mean it: the Larzac is a UNESCO World Heritage Site ! Located in the southern Aveyron region, it boasts a unique landscape, sometimes lunar, sometimes simply arid. Limestone plateaus, small villages where the aura of the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller still lingers… You'll appreciate the walk as much for its natural beauty as for its historical significance.

3. The Dourbie Gorges

Not far from Millau, the Dourbie Gorges are also close to the Tarn and Jonte Gorges (a little road trip perhaps?). It's here that the Dourbie River and its blue waters meander. You'll visit this area to hike, admire exceptional panoramas, and explore charming little villages.

4. The Salles-la-Source Waterfall

It flows through the village of the same name, or rather nearby, on the road to Conques. The waterfall is easily accessible; there's no parking nearby, so the best option is to park in the village of Salles-de-la-Source, take a walk, and then head to the waterfall. In season, there's a small café on the corner where you can take a refreshing break.

Nearby: There is also the smaller and less well-known Crouzie waterfall, its natural environment is wilder.

5. Lake of the Monks in Aubrac

Lake Monks is located in Saint-Chely-d'Aubrac, at an altitude of 1300m on the Aubrac plateau. It is little known, so you will often find yourself alone there. It's the perfect place for fishing, walking around the lake, admiring the sunset, or enjoying a night under a million stars.

6 The Rougier family of Camarès

Another unique landscape, an incredible site ! Rub your glasses if you like, it won't change the color of this blood-red earth, enhanced by touches of green vegetation. An arid landscape, a stunning geological phenomenon. To visit this place, you can do so on foot (a 1km loop, but also a longer one starting from Gissac) or by mountain bike (follow the marked trails to respect the natural environment).

7. The Lévézou and Lake Pareloup

The Lévézou is a beautiful region in the Aveyron department, ideal for swimming, sightseeing, and enjoying local produce. Lake Pareloup is one of the jewels of this area, with its perfect blue waters ideal for the beach (there are three beaches and several secluded spots), swimming, water sports and leisure activities, fishing, and walking. It is the 5th largest artificial lake in France. Located at an altitude of 800 meters, the lake reaches a maximum depth of 45 meters – a veritable little sea!

8. Devèz Waterfall

The Devès Waterfall, located in the Aubrac region, is particularly interesting (among all the waterfalls in the Aveyron department, and there are many!) because trails have been laid out to access it. It's surrounded by nature, and you can reach it on foot, hiking 5km or 10km depending on your available time and preferences. Accessible in all seasons.

9. The Rajal del Gorps

A strange name for a natural area that's no less than 240 million years old. Near Millau, these limestone rocks, sculpted by erosion and rising from an arid landscape, are spectacular. A strange atmosphere... A picturesque place, a pleasant hike to do with the family, for a change of pace.
