    • Domaine du Vieux Noyer, one of the few producers of Côtes de Millau AOP wine in Aveyron

You don't need to be a wine enthusiast to appreciate the meticulous work of Éric and Ludovic, two lovers of vines and nature who passionately cultivate the Aveyron terroir. Founded in 1992 by Bernard Portalier, the estate is now a family legacy passed down through generations, a jewel of the region that showcases the rich winemaking heritage of Aveyron. Meetings, advice, and tastings await you at Domaine du Vieux Noyer, a pleasure to be had year-round.

An estate ideally located to produce high-quality wines

It is in the heart of the Tarn Gorges in Rivières-sur-Tarn that Ludovic and Éric have been cultivating their 32 hectares of vines organically since 2009. Located at an altitude of over 400 meters on clay-limestone soil, the vineyard benefits from exceptional sunshine and optimal climatic conditions for producing unique wines that express the essence of the terroir. While traditional know-how is preserved to guarantee consistent quality, a new wave of modernity has accompanied the two winemakers since their arrival at the estate in 2020. Their goal? To make their wines shine beyond regional borders.

Côtes de Millau AOP wines, an exceptional appellation to be enjoyed

This is one of the smallest appellations in France, producing red, white, or rosé wines renowned for their freshness and assertive character, which is the core business of Éric and Ludovic in Aveyron. At Domaine du Vieux Noyer, particular attention is paid to crafting this unique regional wine, with blends dominated by noble grape varieties.

      • For white wine: Mauzac and Chenin
      • For red and rosé wine: Gamay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon

As a side note, the Côtes de Millau AOP wine was once so renowned that it supplied the table of the Popes in Avignon.

Domaine du Vieux Noyer, a shop where you can find all your favorite wines

Whether you're a connoisseur, an amateur, a professional, or simply a wine lover, you'll be captivated by the exceptional aromas of Côtes de Millau AOP wine and the estate's commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture. Above the winery, a tasting room allows you to discover and savor the unique character of this Aveyron wine, while a shop showcases all the artisanal products made on the estate. Indeed, while wine is the star of Domaine du Vieux Noyer, Ludovic and Éric also cultivate mirabelle plums to make calistou (an aperitif made with walnuts, mirabelle plums, and rosé wine).

Domaine du Vieux Noyer, now that's a unique place where you could spend the whole day !

Info: Cellar visits can be arranged by appointment only for groups of 10 or more, while the tasting room is open from Monday to Saturday.

A wonderful discovery while tasting a local aperitif, "Calistou," in a restaurant. We were so taken with this unique mirabelle plum and walnut wine that we did some research to treat ourselves and share it with our loved ones. The whole team is very friendly. Thank you again for your professionalism, your kindness, and for the prompt delivery. We look forward to visiting you again on our next vacation.
