    • Domaine du Vieux Noyer, one of the rare producers of AOP Côtes de Millau wine in Aveyron

No need to love wine to appreciate discovering the meticulous work of Éric and Ludovic, two lovers of vines and nature who passionately cultivate the Aveyron terroir. Created in 1992 by Bernard Portalier, the estate is today a family heritage that is passed down from generation to generation, a jewel of the region that promotes the richness of Aveyron wine. Meeting, advice and tasting, coming to the Domaine du Vieux Noyer is a pleasure all year round.

An ideally located estate for producing high-quality wines

Ludovic and Éric have been cultivating their 32 hectares of organic vines in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn in Rivières-sur-Tarn since 2009. Located at an altitude of over 400 meters on clay-limestone soil, it benefits from privileged sunshine and optimal climatic conditions for producing unique wines with the aromas of the terroir. While traditional know-how is preserved to guarantee consistent quality, a new breath of modernity has accompanied the two winemakers since their arrival on the estate in 2020. Their goal? To promote their products beyond regional borders.

AOP Côtes de Millau wines, an exceptional appellation to taste

This is one of the smallest appellations in France, available in red, white or rosé, a wine renowned for its freshness and strong character which is the core business of Éric and Ludovic in Aveyron. At Domaine du Vieux Noyer, particular attention is paid to the production of this unique wine of the region with blends dominated by noble grape varieties.

      • For white wine: Mauzac and Chenin
      • For red and rosé wine: Gamay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon

For the record, the AOP Côtes de Millau wine used to supply the tables of the Popes in Avignon, so famous was it.

Domaine du Vieux Noyer, a boutique where you can find all your favorite vintages

Connoisseurs, amateurs, professionals or individuals, you will be won over by the exceptional aromas of AOP Côtes de Millau wine and by the winegrowing practice committed to respecting the environment. Above the winemaking cellar, a tasting cellar allows you to discover and savor the typical characteristics of this Aveyron wine, while a shop presents all the artisanal products produced on the estate. Indeed, if the wine is the star of Domaine du Vieux Noyer, Ludovic and Éric also cultivate mirabelle plums to make calistou (an aperitif made from walnuts, mirabelle plums and rosé wine), apricots for the pleasure of the fruit and make local beers from the Peyrelade Brewery located in Boyne.

The Domaine du Vieux Noyer is a unique place where you could spend the day!

Info: Cellar tours can be arranged by appointment only for groups of 10 people or more, while the tasting room is open Monday to Saturday.
