    • Château de Saurs, the winemaking heritage of a passionate family in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards

The history of Château de Saurs dates back to the 17th century, when the Gineste de Saurs family began producing renowned wines a few kilometers from Gaillac. Overlooking the right bank of the Tarn River, the château, built in 1852 by the great-grandfather of the current owner, is a magnificent Palladian residence, a true wine estate rising above a lush, wooded garden—an iconic jewel of the Gaillac vineyards. With walks, tastings, tours, and discoveries, a day in Lisle-sur-Tarn promises to be captivating.

Château de Saurs, a vineyard that preserves its soils and biodiversity in the Tarn

For three generations, the Gineste family of Saurs has carefully and meticulously preserved the quality of its vines and soils, a painstaking effort recognized by the Gaillac AOC and IGP Côte du Tarn labels. Red, white, or rosé, each vintage is unique, offering a delightful expression of the terroir in elegant wines grown on rich and varied soils.

      • The first slopes benefit from clay and clay-limestone soil, which gives wines that are fine and elegant on the palate.
      • The vines at the bottom of the slope ripen on gravelly and "boulbène" soil, giving charm, power and delicious fruity notes to the wines.

The oceanic climate and its Mediterranean influences bring warmth and mild humidity, ideal for developing the unique aromas of the Gaillac vineyards. Spanning 40 hectares, the Château de Saurs vineyards have been cultivated organically since 2009, further confirming the values of environmental preservation and conservation championed by the Gineste de Saurs family.

A stroll through the vineyards and gardens of Lisle-sur-Tarn

Nature is omnipresent at Château de Saurs, which boasts a sublime garden and vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see, a magnificent, picture-postcard landscape. Open to visitors every Thursday between June and August, the garden is a verdant haven where you can admire avenues of two-hundred-year-old umbrella pines, cypress trees, fruit trees, roses… so many fragrant beauties that invite relaxation and escape. Take your time to stroll among the flowers and trees before heading to the wine cellar, a fully renovated 1666 farmhouse where you can taste the delicious wines of Château de Saurs. You can also purchase bottles of wine on-site and ask for advice from passionate winemakers who are delighted to help. A temporary exhibition in the Art space and a permanent exhibition in the dovecote complete the visit to Château de Saurs.

Excellent accueil et conseils pertinents. Nous avons choisi un vin rouge "réserve Eliézer" et un vin blanc " Loin de l'oeil"; un plaisir à boire avec des amis.
