    • The Britz, a cocktail bar in Albi: the must-visit address opposite Sainte-Cécile Cathedral

Nestled within the Mercure Albi Les Rives du Tarn hotel, Britz has established itself as the premier cocktail bar in the Tarn region's capital. Located on the opposite bank from the Gothic masterpiece of Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers one of Albi's most breathtaking views —a terrace or interior where ancient stonework blends seamlessly with contemporary elegance. It's hard to imagine a better setting for a drink.

Open every day from 4pm to 11pm, Britz welcomes both Albi residents looking for a sophisticated after-work experience and travelers eager to live an authentically local experience, far from standardized formulas.

      A carefully curated cocktail menu

The menu is structured around two worlds. Classics revisited with a southern sensibility : the “Britz”, a signature cocktail with quince liqueur and the Gaillac method, perfectly embodies the territorial roots of the house.

The signature cocktails reveal the bartender's personal touch : The Pink Panther with Jimador Tequila and prickly pear juice, the Lychee Blossom with Nikka Coffey Vodka and rose-jasmine bitters, or the Tatin with Christian Drouin CalvadosPrecise blends, each glass telling a story. (Subject to change)

For those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, the alcohol-free menu is carefully curated and not compromised : Jardin, Boréal, Carotte Cake, Virgin Spritz made with JNPR —all creations worthy of true bartending expertise. (Menu subject to change)

      Local tapas to accompany

On the food side, Britz offers a tapas menu showcasing local producers : charcuterie from Lacaune, cheeses from the region, foie gras from Alby Foie Gras, prawns flambéed with Crespinol pastis, Tarnais burger with duck breast and mayonnaise with pink garlic from Lautrec … A cuisine rooted in the Tarn region.

Cocktail bar in Albi, on the banks of the Tarn, opposite the cathedral : the Britz ticks all the boxes for a memorable evening, whether it's a get-together with friends, a professional after-work event or a cultural stop in the heart of Albi's heritage.

A bit austere when you enter but this was the first corporate hotel we have used in Europe. Revamped former mill, red brick like the rest of Albi. View of the Tarn is fabulous—ask for a room on the river side! Nice helpful staff, great parking (don’t miss the U-turn into the lot!), a short and superb walk across either bridge into the historic center.
