Magnificent. The family have been restoring this grand “castle” for 2 generations and the work is ongoing. History. The owner is a real character full of passion. As good as it gets for historical places to stay.

Amazing castle in real rural France. Really beautiful set up, near Cordes sur ciel. Emmanuel the host was great and took time (and courage) to help us with the luggages and to take us through a private tour. Castle has a crypt which was built in the 12th century by a Templar who was coming back from Jerusalem. Even The wooden door dates back to the 12th century and the whole place resonates of history. Emmanuel’s father was a prolific artist, painting with different technics including knife. The castle rooms display these in a good fashion. Breakfast is good and if you have the chance to rent the second floor, you will have a full self catering flat for yourself where you can cook and have a proper sitting with guests. Strongly recommend the place for one or several nights, enjoy France far from the hype of the usual tourists sights and deeply rooted in genuine rural France.

I felt we got a bit conned by this one, I have a good mind to complain to the French Tourist board. How it is presented on the adverts is not how it is. Essentially the owner bought this chateau and...
