    • Located in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards between Albi and Toulouse, the Château de Mauriac was founded in 1214 by the Templar Guiriaudus de Mauriaco, which gave rise to the Château de Mauriac.

It has been ranked among the fifty most beautiful private residences in France because it is fully furnished. It is a Pastel castle which cultivated Pastel until the 17th century, which was used to dye clothes blue and from which a ball called a coque was made, which gave rise to the Pays de Cocagne.

Bed and Breakfast : 5 rooms available with period four-poster beds. From 40 m² to 120 m² per room (rates from €110 to €230 per night including breakfast).

You sleep in the castle itself in the apartments of the former lords (VIP visit of the castle included).

      Weddings :
High-end weddings for up to 250 people, with the option of holding the ceremony on-site. The wedding takes place inside the castle itself. 25 people can sleep in four-poster beds. Aperitifs are served in the 5,000 m² castle grounds. Meals are served in the 400 m² interior courtyard with a central dance floor. Or, if it rains, there are 300 m² of indoor rooms.

      Visit :
Duration 1 hour, adult price €9 and group (over 10 people) €6. Open from Easter to All Saints' Day 7 days a week from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (last visit 5 p.m.) Be careful on Saturdays because of weddings (call). From All Saints' Day to Easter (winter hours open Sundays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.). Groups by appointment.

A very beautiful family castle. It's clear that a lot of work has been done to achieve this result by 2025. However, during the tour, there's no history of the past, simply the family history since 1960. Then a very brief tour by the guide.

I visited this splendid castle, which has been magnificently renovated by the owners! ❤️ What work, what courage and patience the owners required to restore it, and also to find the furniture, paint everything, and clear out... in short, congratulations to you, Mrs. Bistres, and your late husband. A must-see for the family, and also important, the guide explains and recounts the events of the past very well, and you can feel the respect she has for the late Mr. Bistres.
