Cirque of Labarthe Nature Reserves in Caylus

The Cirque of Labarthe is a “Sensitive Natural Area” in the town of Caylus. It encompasses the banks of the “Bonnette” river, Lake Labarthe and the forest estate on the outskirts of the village of Caylus. The objective is to protect the local fauna and flora. Indeed, the environment is typical of the Causses, but also representative of the Bonnette Valley.

The PR3 hiking route allows you to discover the entire protected area of the Cirque de Labarthe. This is a loop that goes around the circus, starting from the lake and returning through the wood of the locality of Ricoty. A car park is located near the lake, on the secondary road 19, leaving the village of Caylus. It's a family walk and very easy. The lake offers many leisure activities in all seasons. It is a popular fishing spot. In summer, there is a leisure base, with a guinguette for lively evenings by the water. A playground and picnic tables are also available.
