One of the last bastides of the Tarn, this village is labeled "towns and villages where life is good", and more recently "central town of Occitanie".

During your walks, you will be able to see the 16th-century Viviers castle, the 12th-century presbytery, the 12th-century Saint Martin church and its chapel, its recumbent effigy, and many period buildings such as the Sabartarié wash house, the Rousset ford bridge…

A stopover village on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), numerous routes are available:

      • Nature circuit, with walks, hikes, the Véloccitanie…
      • Heritage discovery trail, featuring buildings listed by the ABF

Combining authenticity and modernity, Viviers-lès-montagnes offers many possibilities.

You will find everything you need for a pleasant stay, with local producers, local shops, a restaurant, gîtes, and breathtaking views of the Pyrenees … all things that make up the village's motto: living well together!

As for festivities, depending on the season you visit us, many events await you… Saint Roch's Day in August, Saint Patrick's Day in March, Christmas market in December and many more.

This town hall, led by Alain Veulliet and his team, is very dynamic and boasts a variety of facilities serving its residents: a beautifully renovated gîte for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) that can accommodate at least 12 people, housed in a historic building; a high-quality sports complex; a media library; a hall for events or shows that can hold 200 people; and much more—all in excellent condition! The building that houses the town hall, the village's former school, is of the same high standard: well-appointed, functional, and pleasant.

I receive a very warm welcome every time I visit the Viviers-les-Montagnes Town Hall 😀 It makes you want to go even if you don't have a specific need 😉
