    • The Viaduct Boatmen, a unique excursion into the heart of nature in the Tarn Valley

While the Aveyron region is beautiful, its landscapes are even more breathtaking when viewed from the Tarn River. The nature escape offered by the Viaduct Boatmen is available between May and October, departing from Creissels, a small medieval village less than 10 minutes from Millau. Book your ticket and drift along the Tarn to the rhythm of your boatman's stories.

An unforgettable boat trip on the Tarn

The tranquility of the Aveyron region envelops you upon arrival, spreading a gentle serenity along the riverbanks that await you for an extraordinary excursion. Step across the footbridge and pontoon to reach your vessel, a flat-bottomed boat once used for fishing and transporting goods. The six privileged passengers, comfortably seated, are already marveling at the natural beauty along the banks of the Tarn, as the boat glides gently towards the Millau Viaduct. The descent in the heart of nature is a sublime 8km route which promises you 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes of escape between beaver constructions, the aerial ballet of grey herons, the acrobatics of kingfishers, the sublime crystalline rapids… With the help of a motor and the traditional boat hook, the boatman takes you to discover the gems of the Tarn Valley such as the troglodyte village of Peyre, punctuating the trip with stories of the country and exciting explanations about its environment.

A memorable day in the cool air of the Tarn

The boat trip ends under the Millau Viaduct, a must-see in the Aveyron region. The return trip to the dock by minibus offers the chance to ask your boatman any last-minute questions; he's delighted to share his experience and knowledge. If the boat trip is over, the day continues with a picnic in the relaxation area for those who have brought their own lunch. Forgot your cooler? The Canoe-Café offers food and drinks all day, as well as shaded tables and deck chairs. From waterfall walks and swimming to stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing, there are plenty of activities to enjoy with the Viaduct Boatmen, not to mention the outdoor adventures offered by Millau Aventure!

Did you know? The boat can be privatized for your professional or private events.

The Viaduct Boatmen are also among the must-sees in Aveyron, offering the opportunity to make many discoveries in the region at a reduced price.

When visiting the bridge at Millau do take this boat trip. You pass under the bridge and the guides are excellent. It takes about an hour and is so worth it.

Views of the bridge did not disappoint. I only went on this tour to see the bridge so it didn't matter than the tour guide spoke very little English. I had one of the workers at the Millau visitor...
