Stroll in the village ...

The best way to visit Roquecor is to go directly by car, you will easily find a place to park. Once on foot, start with the town hall square : to find it, nothing easier, the town hall is inside the dungeon of the nineteenth century (which is the highest construction of the village).

Unfortunately we can not climb into the dungeon but behind it is a breathtaking view (in any season!) On the Tarn-et-Garonne countryside .
You will find a huge iron sculpture , the famous " TV " as likes to nickname the roquecortois . From this promontory, you can see the Petite Séoune, which is a tributary of the Garonne River on the right bank that runs through the departments of Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne .

At multiple locations in the village, you'll find signs with old photos that tell the story of Roquecor's old craftsmen , it's part of the Village History that you can discover while wandering around. !

A very lively village!

All year long, on Sundays from 9h to 12h , you will find in Roquecor the farmers' market . Take the opportunity to discover the local specialties and go to meet producers. For a village of 438 inhabitants, it is a large market that starts from the market place (that's logical) and that stretches along the rue Fontaine under the chestnut trees.

And depending on the time of year, the village organizes (in addition to the farmers market) themed fairs , such as: the Christmas market, the event "art and wine", the exhibition of vintage cars, the flower market…

You will find the dates of the upcoming events on the agenda of Tarn Aveyron!

The Market Square is the nerve center of the village, thanks to the "Café du Center". It will immerse you in a typical atmosphere of these small villages of the Southwest . You can stop there for a coffee or to eat , it is a must in Roquecor.

In front of the cafe, there is a delicatessen to stock up on local products (if you have not had the opportunity to find your happiness at the market). There is also Sapodouce soap factory, which creates and manufactures natural soaps and cosmetics. All these soaps are colored and scented thanks to the ingredients offered by nature, it's pure happiness !

Do you know the legend of Roc des Nobis?

Roquecor has an exceptional natural heritage that is little known to the general public. After a stroll through the village, do not miss the visit of the Roquecor Gardens . They are located below the village, the path is at the place of sheep . You will pass by an old and immense door, you will be able to then admire the wash-house with its curtain of ivy which gives him a fairy aspect !

Then on the way follows a multitude of small gardens that each bear a name of elders of the village. The solidarity of the villagers makes that every year they maintain the gardens together.

The troglodyte site

And you will not miss the huge rock that sits in front of a troglodyte site . If you look at the caves staying in front, you will see a skull . It's rather impressive!

This may be related to a local legend that says that in the fifteenth century, a large wedding party was organized to marry a knight and a shepherdess. Unfortunately, a huge rock would have unhooked the cliff and would have fallen on the wedding! Only the knight would have retreaded ...

For hikers and nature lovers

The village offers 4 PR (about 10kms each), including 3 from this famous Roc des Nobis . You can find the hiking sheets on the following site (click).
