The Peyro Clabado is an astonishing block of granite, placed at the top of the Pic des Fourches, in the town of Lacrouzette. You enter the lands of Sidobre, a mountain range where granite predominates. The Peyro Clabado is an emblematic site of Sidobre, which has inspired many legends. Indeed, this block of 800 tons is one of the largest in Sidobre, but also one of the most “balancing”. Custom guarantees that a stone thrown at the top of the boulder, which stays there of course, is a sign of an upcoming nuptials… it's up to you to see if you'll try this chance!
It's a family walk that takes you there. The journey from the car park is short, about ten minutes. You have all the amenities nearby. The Sentier des Merveilles takes you through the Croix des Carriers. These unusual rock blocks have attracted many stonemasons and this walk allows you to follow in their footsteps, to discover their trade. To find out more, go to the Espace Jean Cros. An orientation table also allows you to locate the other sites in the area.
