The Museum of the Universality of Sacred Art Carpets opens its doors to you on a journey through time, in Saint-Amans Valtoret in the south of Tarn, a stone's throw from Hérault.

A unique place where sacred art becomes universal.

Located in the Thoré Valley, Montagne Noire, with its rich historical past in the wool trade and textile industry, the museum highlights the richness of a craft with multiple influences.

This unique and welcoming space within the Château de Saint-Amans Valtoret houses an exceptional collection of antique religious, prayer and meditation rugs from the 17th to the 20th century, from all four corners of the world, testifying to the artistic and religious traditions that have marked the history of humanity.

Immerse yourself in an exciting guided tour at the crossroads of cultures and eras, led by the master of the place, Roland Salmon.

These hand-knotted wool or silk rugs are true works of art, each piece tells a fascinating story.

The Museum of the Universality of Sacred Art Carpets also offers visitors a variety of contemporary creations ranging from pictorial and digital art to ceramics. A collection of terracotta from the Cradle of Civilizations, a program of conferences and events are also on display.
