Domaine Michel ISSALY

Domaine Michel ISSALY has existed since 1847, it is located 4 km from Gaillac on the first coasts of this appellation which is the oldest vineyard of France. The transmission of know-how has always taken place within the same family, six generations have followed one another.

The Estate currently covers 2.50 ha certified in ORGANIC (ECOCERT), BIODYNAMY (DEMETER) and HVE (High Environmental Value). The vineyard is entirely managed according to the recommendations of agroforestry and permaculture.

The vines are on average forty years old, they are located on the slopes of Sainte Cécile d'Avès, the terroir is characterized by molasses on very deep clay-limestone gravels (more than 14 meters deep) allowing to make great wines. on call.

The Domaine is also characterized by the exclusive use of old and indigenous grape varieties: prunelard, braucol and duras for the reds, mauzac, len de el and oundenc for the whites.

In the vineyard or in the cellar, the work remains largely manual, allowing the greatest respect for living things and the cycles ordered by nature. Observation and patience guide gestures and the posture always remains open.

The Domaine's wines are "alive", they give off a lot of vibration, drinkability and salinity.
